Chocolate Devil Food Cake (untested)

This recipe is written in Grammy's handwriting in ballpoint pen and probably dates around the late-1960s to mid-1970s.

Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 eggs, well beaten
• 1 cup ground chocolate
• 1/2 cup boiling water
• 2 1/4 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup sour milk

Instructions:

1. Cream shortening and sugar
2. Add eggs
3. In a separate bowl, mix ground chocolate and boiling water
4. Add to sugar and shortening mixture
5. Mix in remainder of ingredients
